        Final Examination

The final exam consists in presenting and  discussing an original research thesis developed under the scientific supervision of a professor during a six-month internship. Students  are guaranteed the opportunity to carry out the master thesis within research groups active at the Department of Physics and Astronomy "G. Galilei", in other structures of the University of Padova,  in public or private research institutions, such as National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF), the  National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) , as well as  spending an internship in companies, industries or other external bodies on the basis of specific agreements.
Both the writing of the thesis and the final oral presentation will be held in English. The discussion will  take place in front of a commission appointed by the Director of the Department of Physics and Astronomy "G. Galilei".
All the information about  the degree application, the thesis submission, the graduation sessions and the final grade are available on the website of the Master of Science in Astrophysics and Cosmology  at the web-page: www.unipd.it/en/graduation

The final grade, in a scale of one hundred and ten, is made up of weighted average of the exams rounded to the nearest integer (e.g., rounding to the smaller integer  if the rest is less than 0.5, rounding to the  larger integer  in the case it is equal to or greater than 0.5) to which a maximum increment for the thesis of 8 points (1 for career in two years, 0 to 4 from the advisor, from 0 to 2 from the referee, and from 0 to 1 from the graduation commission) is added.
The career point is awarded to all students   who graduate by the end of the second academic year of enrollment (currently September 30).
Cum laude can only be attributed to students whose thesis received at least 6 of the points available to the advisor, referee, and commission alltogether. In addition, the final "virtual" rating (average + thesis score) must reach at least 113. Cum laude must be explicitly requested by the thesis advisor and must be unanimously approved by the graduation commission.

In order to graduate, it is necessary to register on Uniweb by the deadline set for each graduation period:
